ಮೊದಲ ನಡಿಗೆ

This poem is on my daughter ...after watching her walking for the first time :-)

******ಮೊದಲ ನಡಿಗೆ******

ಕಂಡೆ ಮಗಳ ಮುದ್ದಾದ ಮೊದಲ ನಡಿಗೆ,
ಕೊಂಡಾಡಿದೆ ದೇವ ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಈ ರಮ್ಯ ಕೊಡುಗೆ.
ಇರಿಸಿಹಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು, ಇರಿಸಿಹಳಿಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು,
ರತ್ನದಂತ, ಮುತ್ತಿನಂತ ಚೆಲುವು ತುಂಬಿದ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ.
ಘಲ್ ಘಲ್ ಎಂದಿದೆ, ಝಲ್ ಝಲ್ ಎಂದಿದೆ,
ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಯ ತಬ್ಬಿಹ ಹೊಳೆವ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯ ಗೆಜ್ಜೆ.

ಅಜ್ಜಿ, ಅಜ್ಜ, ಅಪ್ಪ,ಅಮ್ಮ ಕರೆದಾಗ ಓಡಿ ಬಂದು,
ತಬ್ಬಿ ನಗಲು ಮಿನುಗುವುದು ಕೆನ್ನೆಕುಳಿಯ ಬಿಂದು.
ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಗೆಚ್ಚಿದೆ ಮನೆಯ ಸೊಗಸಿನ ಪೆಂಪು,
ಸೂಸುತಿಹುದೆಲ್ಲೂ ಮನದಾನಂದದ ಕಂಪು.
ಹೃದಯ ಬಾಗಿಲಲಿ ಬರೆದಿಹುದು ಬಣ್ಣದ ರಂಗೋಲಿ,
ತುಳಿದೆರೆಚಿಹಳು ಮನಕೆ ಬಣ್ಣ ನಮ್ಮ ಸಪ್ನವಲ್ಲಿ.
ಅಡಕು ತೊಡಕಿನ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ ತೂಗಿ ಇವಳಿಡುತಿಹಳು.
ಬಳುಕಿ ಬರದಿ ಸಾಗುವ ಮನೆಯ ಮಿಂಚಿವಳು.

ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ ಗೆಜ್ಜೆಯು ನಾದವೀಣೆಯನು ಮೀಟುತಿದೆ.
ಅಲಿಸಿದ ಮನವು, ನಾದಕೆ ತಲೆದೂಗುತಿದೆ.
ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಗುರುತು ಮೂಡಿದೆ ಮನದ ಅಂಗಳದಿ.
ಮೈಮನ ನಲುಗಿಸುವ ರೋಮಾಂಚನ ತರದಿ.
ಎಲ್ಲ ಕಣ್ಗಳ ಸೆಳಿದಿಹಳು ವೈಯ್ಯಾರಿ,
ಬಿಂಕ ಬಿನ್ನಾಣ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳಣ ಸಿಂಗಾರಿ.
ತಪ್ಪು ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಗಳಿಡುತ ಸಾಗುವ ಕಾಲ್ಜೋಡಿ,
ಬಲಿತ ಜೀವಗಳಿಗೆ ಮಾಡಿಹದು ಮೋಡಿ.

Srushti Started Walking.....Aug 24th

YAhoooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Srushti started walking today morning and all are happy for that. Now onwards it will be even more difficult to mange her. God...!!! she is so naughty....try to topple anything that comes on her way.....tear papers...break whichever looks shiny :-)

Namakarana - April 18th

"Srushti Srushti Srushti" the name was whispered in her ear by us, when she was busy eating a jasmin flower on bavya's lap.According the hindu custom ( or you can say vokkaliga community custom) 3 names were kept to her. The names are "Srilakshmi, Parvati and Srushti ( the official name)". The first 2 names are names of GODESS lakshmi and parvathi.

           One can say, we "managed" the function instead of "celebrating" it. All were tensed both guests and the host. Srushti's health had deteriorated and was looking weak. She was unmanageable as she was sick and restless . she was suffering from dysentery and was crying a lot. Though the guests were longing to take her in thier arms, most of them couldn't, thanks to her worsening health. Many who came late even could not see her, let alone hold her.

           With greate difficulty we finished all the rituals on the podium, with srushti being on bavya's lap. As usual we had to bribe her with many things to play with, to calm her down, while the priest continued performing the rituals in haste. She was moving between the room and party hall; Brought to hall when she is needed for pooja and taken back to room to relax.

           By the time lunch was being served for the guest, her health worsened horribly. She grew weaker and weaker, and started passing motion more frequently. We all were in tense. The panic in the crows increased when one of the family member who is a doctor said the pulse is dropping with Srushti. Hearing this all our pulse started falling and we immediately rushed her to hospital. With god's grace, her condition was not so serious. Doctor advised us to to take her back and also advised some medicine and diet.All of us had a sigh  of relief. We returned back to party hall and finished having lunch and later returned back home.

   By night Srushti's health showed -  up trend. Though she was not fully recovered from dysentery, she was looking cheerful and active( which was missing in her face from quite a few days). We felt as if we saw first the crescent in the dark sky.

ಮೋಹನ ಚಂದ್ರನ ಪ್ರಥಮ ದರ್ಶನವ
ಪಡೆದಿಹಳೆನ್ನ ಮುದ್ದು ಮಗಳು.
ಬೆಳದಿಂಗಳ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಕಿರಣ ಝರಿ ಧುಮಿಕಿಹೆ,
ಅವಳ ನಯನ ಸರೋವರದೊಳು.
ಕಡುನೀಲಿ ಕೊಳದಳಿ ಬಿಚ್ಚರಳಿ ನಿಂತಿದೆ
ಶ್ವೇತಪುಷ್ಪ ಅಲ್ಲಿ.
ಕಣ್ ರೆಪ್ಪೆ ಬಡಿಯದೆ, ಬಿಡುಗಣ್ಣ ನೋಟ
ಹರಿಸಿಹಳು ಬಾಲೆಯಿಲ್ಲಿ.

ಜ್ಯೋತ್ಸ್ನಾಕಿರಣದ ಮುತ್ತಿನವಳಗಳು
ಸೇರಿಹುದಿವಳ ಕಣ್ ದೀಪ.       
ಚಂದ್ರಬಿಂಬವು ನಾಟ್ಯವಾಡಿದೆ
ತುಂಬಿವಳ ನಯನಮಂಟಪ.
ಮೃಗಧರನು ಬೀರಿಹ ಮೋಹಕ ನಗೆಯ
ಗಗನ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ.
ವಿಸ್ಮಯವು ಮೂಡಿಸಿದೆ ಮುದ್ದಾದ ಭಾವ
ಈ ಚೆಲುವೆಯ ಮೊಗದಲ್ಲಿ.

ಬೆಳಕಿನ ಚೆಂಡನು ಘಕ್ಕನೆ ಹಿಡಿಯಲು
ಬಾನಿಗೆ ಬಾಲೆಯು ಕೈ ಚಾಚಿಹಳು.
ದೊರಕದೆ ಚೆಂಡು 'ಏಯ್' ಎಂದೆನುತ ಕೋಪದಿ
ಗುಡು ಗುಡು ಗುಡಿಗಿದಳು.
ಭುವನವ ಬೆಳಗುವ ಶಶಿಯೇ ಬೆಚ್ಚಿದ
ಕಂಡೀ ಭೀಷಣ ಘರ್ಜನೆಯ.
ಭೂಮಿಗಿರುವ ಬಹುದೂರ ಕಂಡು
ತಾಳಿಹನು ತಾನು ನೆಮ್ಮದಿಯ.
ಮುನಿದ ಬಾಲೆಯ ಹೃದಯ ಗೆಲ್ಲಲು
ಕೈಬೀಸಿ ಕರೆದಿಹ ಸಂತಸದಿ.
ನಭಕುಂಡದೊಳಿರುವ ನವನೀತ ಕಂಡು
ನಲಿದಿಹಳಿವಳು ಸೋಜಿಗದಿ.

ಧರೆಯ ತಿಮಿರವನೋಡಿಸುವ ಅಮೃತಕರ
ಸರ್ವರಿಗೂ ಭಗವಂತ.
ಇವಳ ಸಮ್ಮೊಹಕ ನಯನವ ಕಂಡ ಶಶಿಯೇ
ಇಂದು ಪುಣ್ಯವಂತ.

ನಲಿದಿದೆ ಬಾನು,ಹಾಡಿದೆ ಹಕ್ಕಿ, ಮಿಂಚಿದೆ ತಾರೆ,
ಇವರಾಟವ ನೋಡಿ ಜಗ ಸದನದಲಿ.
ಸೊಬಗದು ಹರಿದಿದೆ, ಸಂತಸವುಕ್ಕಿದೆ,
ಆನಂದವರಳಿದೆ ವಿಶ್ವಹೃದಯದಲಿ.
ಒಲಿದೆ ನಾನ್ ಇವರಾಡುತಿಹ ಮೋಜಿನಾಟಕೆ.
ಸುರಿದೆ ಸಿಹಿಮುತ್ತಿನ ಮಳೆ, ಬಿಗಿದಪ್ಪಿ ಮಗಳ ಹಾಲ್ಗಲ್ಲಕೆ.
